This is the inaugural meeting for the Young and Emerging Leaders Affinity Group. The group will focus on development and networking for young adults and those new to philanthropy who wish to develop leadership skills and gain knowledge about the world of philanthropy. At this meeting, the group will discuss the expectations group members have for this affinity group.

This informal discussion group allows staff from small foundations and family foundations to connect with peers to discuss topics and issues relevant to their grantmaking. We will be discussing the topic of "Evaluation: Grants That Went Wrong," as well as any other burning issues attendees may have.

This program is open to all small/family funders.

Late this summer, Arizona Community Foundation and Helios Education Foundation announced the joint award of $900,000 to two nonprofit organizations to expand education reform efforts in Arizona over the next three years. The recipients were Phoenix-based Beat the Odds Institute, an initiative of the Center for the Future of Arizona, and Portland, Ore.-based Stand for Children, which will expand to Arizona thanks to the grant funding.

During this session you will have the chance to learn more about the new Accio Education Fund, a “venture capital” type of charitable fund created by ACF and Helios to support the development and expansion of innovative education reform efforts for the benefit of Arizona students. You will also have the chance to meet the leaders of both nonprofit organizations and learn more about what ACF and Helios hope to accomplish through this bold initiative.Open to all funders with an interest in education.
